We are a Specialist Driver Training Establishment, our main interest is teaching people to drive. Our courses are designed for any stage of your driving career from beginners to re-test’s,  & from refresher lessons to advanced driving and fleet training. There is a driving course that is suitable for everyone.

If not we can tailor make a course especially for you or your organisation. We deal with major organisations such as the Ministry of Defence and Fords UK etc. We also cater for individual training for the general public.

We can arrange both Manual and Automatic tuition.

Courses start from as little as £250.00

We understand that the driving test is getting harder and longer. You now have to reach a very high standard to pass the new test, which is why our courses are specially designed to help you, reach that high standard.

Our instructors are highly qualified men and women and are experts in the field of intensive training. They are fully aware of the worries and stress of all pupils learning to drive. Our instructors are patient reliable and understanding. They will give you all the help and support needed to get you through your test first time.

You will have the same instructor and car for your course and test. All our vehicles are modern and fitted with dual controls for your safety, and all have comprehensive insurance. Our aim is to teach you to drive to a high standard and to pass your test first time - we offer the best instruction and excellent value for money.

Our prices include your theory test fee and practical test fee and we also book both test's for you. You will also receive on receipt of your deposit, a training package to help you on your way. This will usually consist of "The Highway Code, Traffic Signs, Driving (The Essential Skills) and a CD to help with theory and Hazard perception. This package is included with your course fee and is valued at around £30.00

To book a course you will require a current UK provisional driving licence, the will to learn and our driving school (Provisional licence application forms available at the Post Office).

Courses start from as little as £250.00 and can be as quick as a few days to a few months, depending on your age and driving ability.

Our courses are individually designed to suit you and your lifestyle. You can spread your hours between the booking date and your test, take all of your lessons in the week or two weeks preceding your test or take the first half of your hours over a period of time and the remainder of the hours in the week of your test. You must remember that test time scales do vary from area to area; we do however try our best to get (Instructors during one of our internal training courses)

Prices

Prices quoted below are for manual vehicles, prices and availability for "Automatic on application.

(All courses of 20 hours or more include an optional “Mock Test”).

If you already have a current theory pass you may deduct £20.00 from the price of your chosen course.

Terms & Conditions

PAYMENT

1. Individual lessons and or blocks of five or ten are payable in FULL on or before the first lesson.

2. Driving courses can be booked with a deposit of £150.00. The balance will then be due two weeks prior to the start date. (Test date’s will not be booked or issued until after receipt of deposit, deposits are non refundable).

3. All fees’ (Courses & lessons) are payable by cash, cheque or most major credit/debit cards including American Express. Once lesson fee/balance is paid there is no cancellation.  Payment by credit card will unfortunately incur a 1.9% administration fee per transaction, debit cards 0.20p per transaction & American Express 2.6% per transaction.

4. Unpaid cheques to school or instructor will incur a £30.00 administration fee.

5. To book an intensive driving course, all details including home phone number must be completed on the application form. Receipt of your deposit / payment is your full acceptance of our terms and conditions.

REFUNDS

6. Lesson & Course fees are non-refundable. (Refunds will only be issued in exceptional circumstances i.e if the instructor is unable to provide the service originally booked by the pupil) Deposits are non-refundable.

7. Lesson / course fees may at the discretion of the school be transferred to another Alan's instructor.

8. Your Progress/appointment card is also your receipt and must be brought to every lesson. Lesson fees cannot be transferred if this card is not available.

9. All lessons must be completed within 6 months of booking. (Three months if less than ten hours).

TESTS

10. Tests, although paid for by candidate are not guaranteed at the end of hours booked. If the standard of driving REQUIRED BY THE INSTRUCTOR for the practical test has not been reached, extra hours will need to be booked & paid for before candidate is taken for test (Instructors discretion).

11. Intensive Course lessons are to be taken between the hours of 9am and 5pm unless special arrangements were made at time of booking. In exceptional circumstances lessons may be able to be arranged for evenings/weekends. (Price on application). (Courses & prices for “Automatic” are by special arrangement only). All driving courses not paid for in full by the due date will be considered as cancelled by applicant.

12. The school/instructor cannot be held responsible for tests/lessons cancelled either by the DSA or for bad weather.

GENERAL

13. All instructors work under a franchise contract with Alan’s Driving School. They are responsible to Alan’s for your tuition, conduct and the condition of their car. Alan’s act as agents for it’s franchised instructors and is not responsible for money paid or booking dates and times.

14. Every endeavour will be made to make available the same instructor and car for driving lessons & driving test, but the school retains the right to change either if the situation so warrants. In certain circumstances the school/instructor has the right to terminate lessons or test should they feel it necessary.

15. All changes to courses once booked will incur an administration fee of £20.00 and will only be accepted if request is reasonable. (Changes to Test dates are dependant on availability of both test date and instructor) and in most cases must be received and acknowledged before the start date of the course. All changes must be requested in writing and signed by the person the course has been booked for. Courses and or deposits are not transferable.

16. MOCK TESTS are available by request, a two hour lesson with your instructor will need to be booked and paid for plus £14.00 for the “Mock Test”.

COMPLAINTS

17. Complaints must be made in the first instance to the instructor concerned. If you are not able to resolve the matter with the instructor, you may telephone the office. As a final step complaints can be put in writing to Alan's Driving School, Head Office, 2 Elham Drive, Pitsea, Essex. SS13 2NR. or by e-mail to martin@alansdrivingschool.co.uk  Complaints in writing will only be considered if they are received by the school within 21 days of the incident.
