It is entirely possible that by taking weekly lessons it could take you around 14 months to learn to drive and to successfully pass your driving test. Quite often this leads to people becoming de-motivated, having long gaps between lessons and possibly finishing their lessons altogether, therefore wasting the money they have spent so far.
The DSA recommend that you will need 45 hours of professional driving instruction along with 20 hours of private practice, with a friend or family member, to pass your test. If you take one hour lessons once a week this will take you 45 weeks, not including any time for holidays, illness or for those every day things that get in the way of you achieving your driving goals.
With intensive courses you will be given tuition over several hours during the day. The information you learn remains fresh and this allows your confidence to grow. Ultimately, much more effective learning takes place as there are no long gaps between your tuition and you do not spend half of your lesson recapping what you have previously learnt. With intensive courses you can see the light at the end of the tunnel.
You know when your test will be before you begin your course. How is that for motivation!
To begin your Alan’s Intensive Driving Course you will need two things.
1: Provisional Driving Licence: (£50.00) Click here to get advice on how to apply for your licence
2: Theory Test: (Required for Full Intensive & Residential Courses) The Theory Test is split into two parts. The first is a multiple choice test comprising of 50 questions. This is carried out using a touch screen computer. The pass mark is 43. The second part is a Hazard Perception Test. This is a series of 14 separate video clips showing hazardous situations. You identify these hazards by clicking the mouse at the appropriate time. You must score 44 or more out of 75 to pass. Once you pass both parts you will then need to take your practical driving test within 2 years otherwise you will have to retake both parts again.
