Pre-Driver Training (Under 17's)

Pre-Driver Training (Under 17's)

As one of the largest independent driving schools in the County, Alan's Driving School is committed to Road Safety and hopes to assist in the Government's 10 year Road Safety Strategy to reduce the number of people killed or injured in road traffic accidents through education.

With this objective in mind Alan's Driving School offer a Road Safety course designed to be delivered  in Schools along with other extra curriculum lessons such as drugs education, sex education, personal safety and hygiene education.

The aim of the course is to prepare young people for the responsibilities that come with learning to drive. As we are all aware, many lives are lost or injuries sustained through road traffic accidents and many of these accidents involve new and inexperienced drivers.  The vast majority of these are from the 17-21 year age group

The course on offer is informal as well as informative and includes some of the subjects that students will need to study for their Official DSA Theory Test. The course consists of 6 sessions, which can be delivered at times to suit, usually one hour per week. The first 5 sessions are classroom lessons delivered by Approved Driving Instructors with experience and qualifications in teaching.

We are also joined by a Driving Examiner from the Driving Standards Agency who has expressed an interest in our courses because of the educational nature. The final lesson of the 6 is a practical off road drive where students can experience driving one of our dual controlled cars accompanied by a driving instructor in a safe and controlled environment.

Although the main aim of the course is to prepare young people for driving, we also feel that there are many benefits for students who may be walking or cycling to school. These children are classed as vulnerable road users and could learn a lot about the dangers involved in being road users and how being more aware of their vulnerability could protect them.

Each participating student will receive a certificate of attendance, including a FREE ONE HOUR DRIVING LESSON redeemable subject to age and conditions.
